It had been a while since I'd driven to Effigy Mounds, so I decided to do that on a very nice Sunday afternoon. Effigy Mounds National Monument is located just across the Mississippi River from Prairie du Chien, and my trip to Iowa occurred on what felt like it could be the last over-70-degree day this year.
